Communications Admin Volunteer

Do you want to help get the message out that nature is under threat and needs our help? Do you have strong administrative skills and an interest in communications? We are looking for a volunteer to join the Fundraising & Communications Team. Use your existing skills (and develop more with us!) to help us communicate about the natural world to our key audiences.

Responsible to: Head of Fundraising & Communications
Main volunteer activities:
- Content scheduling for our social media channels
- Uploading/updating website content including news, blogs, jobs, promotions and campaigns
- Scheduling and promoting events (online and in-person) including event assessment and feedback
- Tracking effectiveness of communications campaigns
- In addition to the administrative tasks listed above, there will be opportunities for you to actively develop content (video, images, infographics and more!) to highlight the importance of protecting nature that is under threat
- Working ad hoc with the Fundraising & Communications team on other elements of our work including data entry, supporter communications, promotions and fundraising
Ulster Wildlife will provide you with all the necessary on-the-job training, materials, software and support to carry out this work.
Desirable skills:
- A high level of spoken & especially written English is required, as are great communications skills including the ability and willingness to engage with a wide range of people.
- Enjoy working as part of a small team, but also on own initiative without direct supervision.
- Good IT skills with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Experience of using a range of social media channels is ideal, knowledge of publishing platforms would be useful and an understanding of website content management systems would be advantageous. However, training on our systems will be provided.
- Some photography, video and image editing skills would be needed to enable you to get involved with content creation
- A good knowledge of, and interest in, nature and wildlife.
Hours: Starting immediately, 1 day per week
- Once a week or once a fortnight.
- Flexibility on day of the week, but ideally a Monday or Friday
- Morning or afternoon, usually 3-4 hours.
Expenses: Volunteers can claim mileage to and from our office up to a maximum of 30 miles per day return trip.
