Wildlife Calendar Photography Submissions 2025

1. Entry

1. By submitting your photograph(s), you agree to the provisions of these terms and conditions and to comply fully with them.
2. Submissions open on Friday 2 August 2024 and close at midnight on Sunday 18 August 2024. Submissions must be received by the closing date. 
3. Submitting a photograph constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

2. Eligibility

1. Entry is free and open to everyone.
2. If you are under the age of 18 you must have permission to enter from your parent or guardian. Your parent or guardian will be required to submit the application on your behalf. By submitting an entry, your parent or guardian is deemed to have given such consent and to agree to the use of the entry as described in these terms and conditions.

3. What to enter

1. Each entrant may submit up to a maximum of ten wildlife images for consideration.
2. For the initial entry, all images must be submitted as JPEGs no larger than 2 MB, saved at a high-quality level, e.g. 10 in Photoshop, Adobe RGB (1998) and must be 1920 pixels on the longest dimension. Please do not include borders, watermarks or signatures on the image.
3. Entrants must also be able to supply a high-resolution file, preferably TIFF, suitable for printing. should their image be successful. The high-resolution file should match the colour and cropping of the JPEG submitted at entry. This should be 8-bit, Adobe RGB (1998) at 300ppi.

4. How to enter

1. Photographs should be submitted via the webform.
2. Entries must be in digital format only – no prints or slides will be accepted, and no entries by post will be accepted.
3. All photographs submitted must be the work of the individual who submits them.
4. Entrants must ensure that photographs have been taken with the permission of the subject (where necessary) and do not infringe the copyright of any third party.
5. All images must be taken in Northern Ireland. Images of wildlife must be taken in the natural environment or in their natural habitat. Images of wildlife taken in captivity, domesticated or restrained in any way, will not be eligible, nor will images of species that have been artificially cultivated or reared.
6. The welfare of the wildlife subject of any photograph is of greater importance than the photograph itself – entries which show evidence of undue disturbance or stress imparted on the subject by the photographer will be disqualified. Please take care to avoid damage to the environment in the process of your photography.
7. Entrants must be mindful of the environment and ensure that they do not do anything to destroy the habitat of the wildlife subject in an attempt to secure an image.
8. Entrants are responsible for ensuring full compliance with wildlife legislation, for example in the case of protected species, and in securing any relevant permits that may be required.
9. Digital adjustments are acceptable; the way in which any digital enhancement or editing has been used will be taken into account when judging the entry. However, major changes in content are not allowed.

5. Judging

1. Ulster Wildlife staff will choose the final 12 images. The organiser’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the decision. Due to the high number of entries, individual feedback is not possible.
2. The photograph to be featured on the front cover of the calendar may be decided by a public vote.

6. Usage rights

1. By submitting a photograph entrants agree that Ulster Wildlife reserves the right to free reproduction of the image in all media to promote Ulster Wildlife’s work. Photographers will be credited if an image is used.
2. Photographers will be credited if an image is used. No images will be passed to a third party unless permission has been gained from the photographer beforehand.
3. Your details will not be passed on to any third party without your permission.
